Introduction to BSL for Organisations

This course is aimed at people who are interested in gaining some basic skills in British Sign Language and improving the communication skills within an organisation.


The aim of the course is to give trainees an introduction to this fascinating language and build confidence in their ability to communication with BSL users.




This course can be held in a half, full or 2 day accredited format and can also be delivered with Deaf Awareness Training built in.


Half Day Course Objectives

Trainees will:

  • Learn the finger-spelling alphabet
  • Be able to give basic information about themselves in BSL
  • Be able to sign numbers and tell the time in BSL

Full Day Course Objectives

Trainees will: as half day plus:

  • Learn how to give directions in BSL
  • Learn signs useful in their workplace and / or sign about the weather


Accredited 2 Day Course


This 2 day course is suitable for organisations wishing for trainees to recieve nationally recognised credits for their training. Assessment for the award will be conducted by the course trainer (a short conversation using the vocabulary learnt on the course). There will be a registration and assessment fee per student.

Unit 101: Introduction to BSL - Young People

Unit 101: Introduction to BSL - Frontline Staff



Introduction to BSL training will be delivered on-site, the trainer will come to you




Accredited 2 Day Course:  £1000 plus assessment fees

Full Day Deaf Awareness and BSL Intro combined:  £600

Full Day BSL Intro only:  £600

Half Day BSL Intro:  £350
