BSL Level 2

If you are unemployed and have a PaCE or CfW advisor, you may be able to get funding for our Level 2 BSL classes.  Speak to your advisor who can book you on.

                                                                             

Course

 

This course is aimed at those who have achieved Level 1. We will teach the Signature Level Two Curriculum, giving students the opportunity to achieve the Level Two Certificate in BSL, a nationally recognised qualification.

 

The course length is 50 weeks and consists of one 2 hour session per week (100 hours in total). It is not advisable to start the course late.

 

This course is also available for residential / intensive.

 

Course Outline

 

This qualification is divided into 3 units, each of which can be achieved separately.  They are as follows :

 

Unit 201 - BSL Receptive Skills

Learning Outcomes:

  • Be able to understand signed communication in a range of familiar everyday situations
  • Be able to understand key grammatical features of everyday situations
  • Be able to understand questions related to a range of familiar everyday situations

 

Assessment for this unit is made by learners undertaking a multiple-choice questions task when watching a signed DVD presentation.

 

Unit 202 - BSL Productive Skills

Learning Outcomes:

 

  • Be able to use BSL to communicate a range of familiar everyday situations and chosen theme
  • Be able to use appropriate signing conventions of familiar everyday situations and chosen theme
  • Be able to use non manual features

 

Assessment for this unit is made by learners delivering a short signed presentation.

 

Unit 203 - BSL Conversational Skills

Learning Outcomes:

 

  • Understand routine conversations in BSL
  • Take part in routine conversations in BSL

 

Assessment for this unit is made by learners being involved in a signed conversation with a BSL user.
